About Taylor Sethna, PMHNP-BC, AGPCNP-C

Welcome to Sethna Psych Associates. My name is Taylor Sethna, and I am a dual-certified nurse practitioner specializing in psychiatry. I wanted to take a little time to introduce myself, tell you about my background, and share some of the things that shape the way I approach psychiatric care.

I have always believed that mental health care should begin with taking the time to listen. People seek psychiatric care for many different reasons, and each person's experiences, circumstances, and goals are unique. My role is not simply to identify symptoms and prescribe medication, but to work together with each patient to better understand what they are experiencing and determine what approaches may be most helpful.

I am fortunate to work under the guidance of a psychiatrist with more than 35 years of experience. Learning from her experience has reinforced my belief that good psychiatric care requires looking at the whole person rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or a particular symptom.

Areas of Practice & Specialized Certification:

Psychiatric Care (Ages 12+) ADHD Anxiety Disorders Depression Trauma & PTSD Bipolar & Mood Disorders Psychosis & Schizophrenia Narcissistic Abuse Specialist Primary Care & Mind-Body Health

Education and Training

I am a dual-certified nurse practitioner with certification in both primary care and psychiatry across the lifespan. My training in both areas has given me an understanding of the connection between physical and mental health and the importance of considering the whole person when developing a plan of care.

I provide psychiatric care to individuals ages 12 and older who are experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. My areas of practice include ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, trauma and PTSD symptoms, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, and other psychiatric concerns.

Specialized Certification: Narcissistic Abuse Training

In addition to general psychiatric care, I also have specialized certification training related to narcissistic abuse, helping patients navigate and recover from complex interpersonal trauma and emotional distress.

Psychiatric Care

My approach to psychiatric care is collaborative and individualized. I believe we should work as a team. Every person responds differently to treatment, and there is no single approach that is right for everyone.

When appropriate, medication can play an important role in improving someone’s quality of life. At the same time, I believe medication is only one part of psychiatric care. I also consider non-pharmacologic interventions and other strategies that may help a person manage their symptoms and move toward their goals.

I take the time to explain the potential benefits and risks of medications so that you can make informed decisions about your care. I welcome questions and believe that understanding why a medication is being recommended, what it may help with, and what potential side effects to expect is an important part of the treatment process.

Most importantly, I want my patients to feel heard. Sometimes having someone who is willing to listen and create a safe environment to talk openly can be an important first step toward feeling better.

My Approach to Care

Finding the right clinician can be challenging, particularly when discussing personal or difficult experiences. I understand that talking about anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, mood changes, or other psychiatric concerns can feel vulnerable.

My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can discuss those concerns without feeling judged. I want to understand not only what you are experiencing, but also how those experiences are affecting your life and what you hope to change.

I believe that treatment should be a partnership. My job is to provide my knowledge, experience, and guidance while making sure you have the information you need to make decisions about your own life and care. Ultimately, no one can live your life but you, and I believe you should have an active voice in determining the path forward.
